He's a smart guy and a character, but I just don't agree with the political turns he's made over the years. Too much compromise with power - he came to worship it.

Koch did'nt take any crap! The city was in bad shape when he took over in 78. NY was a pit in the 70's. The previous administrations allowed it to go to hell. Koch started the process of improvement but he was not 100% successful. At least he got the ball rolling.
