He's in the process of making SF the first city to offer universal medical coverage. His "care not cash" plan for the homeless turned out to be just that - good old fashioned liberal programs that have made a difference. He's not afraid to debate in the media, and holds impromptu interviews all the time. The city has the highest average income. He should walk into a second term with ease.

I'm the rarest of rare persons, a city lover who is totally disillusioned with the hard left retro politics that holds sway in a majority of large American cities. Who can doubt that there are problems in our health care delivery system today? Mandating coverage, just like passing "fair wage" laws only makes the problem worse. But they make some people "feel good". How about making San Francisco a business and family friendly place where it doesn't cost almost a million dollars for a semi decent home? San Francisco the most beautiful city in America, where the homeless run free, and only the wealthy can afford to live. This is your idea of paradise? If it is, I guess Gavin Newsom is your guy.
