He was one of the best mayors the city EVER had. If he was as corrupt and racist as Coleman Young, I never saw it. Brought the city out of the tailspin into oblivion, where it was heading (unfortunatley ~ Kwame is putting it right back down there).

Pulled Detroit out of the abyss with his "empowerment zones," a liberal version of Jack Kemp's "enterprise zones." I'm surprised Archer hasn't sought a higher office.
