Good writing, but it's kind of lost its edge over the years. I actually prefer Matt Groening's Life in Hell comic strips. Much more transgressive.

Simply the greatest. It is unmatched it is ability to make a viewer laugh. It is smart and witty for those who consider themselves intelligent. Along with that, it forms a tight bond with simply and obvious comedy (Bart-Homer fights, Homer's actions and interactions in general) for those of us who don't understand what the witty and smart folks are laughing at. They were at the forefront of many new innovations in animated adult comedy. They didn't step back from ripping on politicians, beloved Americans and for the first time, was able to make people a little more comfortable with laughing at gay people. American society watched the Simpsons with pure excitement and intridge for a good 10 to 11 years, but it has fallin off its horse in dramatic fashion. But hell, when you talk about Kubrick, you don't talk about 'Eyes Wide Shut', you talk about 'Dr. Stangelove', 'Full Metal Jacket' and '2001...'. The Simpsons first dozen seaons were so good it has deserved the right for us reviewers to ignore the finally years of its coming extermination as simply the Simpsons in a vegatative state. You hate to see a show go out like this, but you love to watch from the beginning, as its genious rose to stardom and fame. There is no comparison, no substitute, and nothing better then the Simpsons.

Revolutionary classic, though it's become quite dull in recent years, and a bit preachy.
