i've been a reviewer on this site for a long time and it's crazy that i'm just now rating family guy. this show is hilarious, offensive, creative and just damn brilliant with it's sarcastic tongue-in-cheek humor. i love it, i flat love it!

I have made two reviews on this list, and this well be my third and last. My other two were South Park and the Simpsons. South Park is still funny after 9 seasons, the Simpsons was still funny after 12. Both were great upon their introduction, and both have almost survived a decade with the ability to remain funny and fresh. Family Guy died after 3 seasons, 3 and half being kind. The flashbacks aren't funny anymore and the jokes themselves are far too obvious to be funny. MacFarlene and his crew has run into the same problem Groening and his people have, albeit 9 years premature. MacFarlene has overextented himself with movies and two primetime animation shows (oddly enough, they are basically the exact same show, except American Dad! never was funny). Family Guy use to be so good I use to miss jokes because I was laughing so hard. It was tough for me to accept at first due to its commonality to the Simpsons and I was also apprehensive when watching a show that threated the quality of the Simpsons (I never wanting to accept how bad the Simpsons had gotten and how much better, momentarily, Family Guy was). But, when it was cancelled, I watched numerous episodes of Cartoon Network, and I really began to enjoy it. Finally, I was so excited to see that the show was coming back, ready to be an avid watcher. There were a few good episodes apon return, but it quickly feel off, to an even greater degree to the present condition the Simpons finds itself in. Overall, Family Guy, due to its lack of longevity, is simply not compariable to either South Park or the Simpsons. It was once a good show, a very good show, but it is nothing more then normal, and in the end, when confronted by the other true greats on this list, forgetable.

I don't know what gets the most overtime because of this show...my TiVo or The 700 Club.

4 for the old episodes, it's lost something since it came back. Agree about the dog Brian and Stewie, but also find the father Peter Griffin funny as he is pretty much a caricature of the Eastern Mass/ Rhode Island area everyday Joe, grew up with and knew a lot of Peter Griffins back home. It's kind of a very New England area satire in the same way that Simpsons is more or less a mid America satire or King of the Hill is a Southern/ Southwestern satire, each show has the flavor of those areas in subtle and not so subtle ways. Derivative of the Simpsons, no question, but it can be very funny.

The dog and the baby are funny. The rest of the "cast" aren't.
