An eye must be kept out for tears, stains, and general durability. I know a somewhat wealthy lady who gets much of her clothes from thrift stores. She is very classy, and always looks nice.
Also, non-conformists like myself can usually find much of what they like at a thrift store when retail stores fail to satisfy. I am not one to care whether something is "the latest style", and much of the clothing I wear that doesn't exactly fit this mold is sometimes found in a thrift store. Hey, that's where I've been finding my overalls!

Bargains are still to be found, but there are fewer good deals these days 'cause style and quality have been going downhill since the '70s.

I've never seen her wear new clothes. She always looks well dressed and neat. It doesn't matter how much you pay for clothes, if you buy quality and treat them right, you'll look good. Nobody needs to know that you paid 50 cents for the shirt, unless you want to gloat a bit.
