Maryland basketball is something the natives take a lot of pride in. Although they've taken a minor dip since their championship in '02, the Terps remain a force in the ACC.

Maryland is a very good Basketball State. Interest in Bball is strong enough with the Terps of Univ. of Md. ( National Champs 2002 ) as well as lesser schools that fair well enough in Towson, Navy, Loyola , UMBC, Coppin State, Morgan State. Actually the last two schools suck this year. Maryland HS basketball is strong, but for Maryland, Lacrosse is the #1 Sport in the State. yes, Football means something, but Lacrosse is #1. BBall does well and , like Pennsylvania, if you look closely enough, you'll find a number of Maryland kids on College and Pro rosters.
