I just found my old vinyl Marley records with this song on it and listened to it again. The Marley dvds have this song but it is always a different version. The Indians called the all-Black 9th and 10th U. S. Cavalry and 24th and 25 U. S. Infantry, the Buffalo Soldiers. These four regiments provided great opportunities for the freed slaves and the four regiments performed many feats of valor on the frontier and in the Spanish American War.

Good tune, powerful lyrics. Not Marley at his best, but damn good nonetheless.

Great song off of the Confrontation album about black men drafted during the Civil War to fight and kill Indians. Another shameful event in our history...

This song figured prominently in the ultimate anti-war movie On the Beach.

This is one of the best and most passionate Bob Marley songs. He seems to put so much of his soul into this song, and seems to believe in what he is singing. This anti-war song is up there with the best.

I'm kind of tired of it but it's a great tune nevertheless. "Buffalo Soldiers" were black soldiers, often former slaves, that the government sent to fight in the battles against Native American groups in the post Civil War period West in the 19th century. Powerful lyrics, and strident music.
