I went to the Gloria Ferrer winery in Sonoma and tried this and many others there. Like most California sparkling wines, this tends to be less dry and more sweet. However, it is not as bad as something like Asti. The winery has won many awards and it is nice to support local wineries, but I would say it is not anything mind-blowing.

A light with decent body California sparkler. We drink champagne for Christmas and Thanksgiving with our large families, but when we have something for just the two of us(birthay, Valentines, etc.) we opt for Gloria - it ranges from $16 to $19. Nice value and you won't be embarrassed if your friends catch you drinking it. They will like it too, trust me.
