They were cute and collectible but they got carried away and produced so many varieties those that cared quit caring.

I knew dozens of people, mostly women, that were so hooked on those things. If they had to stop buying them it was like trying to break a heroin addiction.

The names of the beanie babies was the best part about them. They were clever and they always had a unique poem that told that specific doll's story. The only thing that sucked was that if you were poor you only had a couple, which made you feel bad when you had friends who had one of each. The way people started collecting them kinda blew the whole fad out of proportion, and turned from a kid thing to a weird lonely adult who collects things to not feel lonely...thing.

actually my kids loved to collect these for quite a few years. when they came out at first, they were a pain in the neck to get since they were so popular. ugh how i hated trying to ge an "inside scoop" when new ones came out. since I had to try and get two of each it could be a real headache. luckily the frenzy wore off and they were much easier to buy. the good part is they were inexpensive regular prices were six or seven dollars. We NEVER paid anymore than that so Scalpers did not make money off from us. they were cute and there were so many to choose from over the years. I think eventually over about a decade my daughter collected the most about 200. my son bought some and then got bored with them. even I broke down and bought about 20 over the years. just for the fun of it. we liked to try and get the one that had our birthday.{obviously not to play with} just something affordable to collect on a tiny budget. pretty harmless little stuffed animals to collect. we never got them t... I not only remember the Beanie Baby craze, but took part in it as well by collecting them! Beanie Babies were very popular in the 90's, and to this day are still somewhat popular. They're so cute, what's not to love?

Beanie Babies are cute little stuffed animals.  I was really into beanie babies when they first came out that I bought at least 1-2 every month, I now have a total of 300.  They are a nice collectors item.  The only thing is that some of the beanie babies can get rather expensive to buy.  Paying more than $7.00 for any beanie is crazy.

Has to be one of the most annoying fad of all times. Sure, they are cute...I'll admit, my kids have a few ( mostly knock-offs) but everywhere I went.....these women freaking out about a little stuffed animal. " I just have to have them all!!!! Where are your beanie babies?? Do you have beanie babies??????" And the adults were always much crazier than the kids about them.

I understand that Beanie Babies were quality stuffed animals, but I don't understand the need to collect so many of them. It seems that people were more impressed with the label, then the actual product, which is a major annoyance to me. This was a fad I was happy to see go.

Okay. They were cute, and I admit I have a few (I've got the regular, teeny & giant version of the worm. I don't know why. He's just really cute.) But there was no way I'd ever want to pay more than $7.00 for one (and I don't care if it's a "collector's item", I bet the people who paid over a thousand dollars for some of them back then are kicking themselves now!)
