I don't know, he is put in a no-win situation, replacing Knight, and leads the team to the NCAA finals in his second year. Even in the year he got canned, his team won a game in the NCAA tournament.

As Indiana luck would have it, they hire Kevin Sampson, who gets slapped with NCAA recruiting violations while at Oklahoma.

Indiana basketball is a big deal to a lot of people, and I don't think his resignation was expected at the beginning of the year. His stepping down could lead to a lot of movement in the coaching ranks, with Steve Alford, Iowa's head coach, likely the top contender for the job.
