This man is a symbol of what the Olympics should be, but not always are, about. A legend in his country, and the coach of Norway's cross country team, he saw Canadian Sara Renner's pole break in the pursuit event. With no hesitation, Hakensmoen stepped into the track and gave Renner a new pole, enabling her to complete the lap. The ultimate result was a silver medal for Canada, with the Norwegian team finishing fourth, out of the medals. "It is what we do," Hakensmoen said.
