Like a lot of the other acts on this list, it's hard for me to fathom, as a reasonably well-adjusted person, how this perversion could be sexually exciting or alluring for anyone, but it obviously is. There was a story not long ago in the news about a farm in Washington where men went to have sex with animals. One man attempted intercourse with a horse and was kicked to death. Not that bestiality warrants the death penalty, but it was a form of poetic justice, in my opinion...

Since most other species do not have the capacity to consent, this law is perfectly justified as I believe animals are not only entitled to a lack of cruelty, but also as much dignity that can be afforded them excepting overriding concerns such as experimentation for cures for illness etc. Missouri takes it a step further and bans sex with dead animals. Trying to sort through the yuck factor, the civil libertarian in me has to ask whether the government has any right telling us what we can't do with whatever we buy in the meat market so long as a third party isn't adversely affected. But even so, your rating should be on the quality of the act alone, not speculation on what it could lead to. A person who has sex with an animal is probably capable of other heinous criminal acts. I think that bestiality is wrong, not just because of animal cruelty issues, but also for general human decency.
