I think an altered state of consciousness is responsible for this book.

According to Disinfo: "Guerrilla philosopher and reality hacker Anton Wilson believes that reading aloud James Joyce's experimental novel Finnegan's Wake triggers altered states." Never having read it, aloud or silently, I can't say.

And I felt myself slide into a state of sleep... Seriously, I tried this and did not get far. Ulysses knocked the stuffing out of me, but Finnegan's Wake, whew..maybe I will try again in a few years..
