Oh, this sort of squeeky clean lame schlock happens all of the time and the only ones who have anything to answer for are the millions, yes millions of consumers who bought the albums. The Captain and Tenille kept their names out of the tabloids and off of the police blotters. But in our hearts of hearts, we just know that after the shows, in the privacy of their hotel rooms they were snorting coke off of one another's naked bodies and doing groupies in front of each other. C'mon, they were big stars at the pinacle of the Me Decade. Even cuddly family friendly Tony Orlando admitted in his autobiography that he was spending afternoons having orgies in his dressing room instead of rehearsing for his TV show.

maybe more popish than rock, but some of their music is good, esp. "Love Will Keep Us Together".

More nerdy than truly shameful. They were kind of freakish - like an escaped cruise ship act that accidently made a hit record or two. Thankfully, their popularity departed as quickly as it arrived.

ONLY in the mid to late 70's could such dreadfully cheesy squares as this be big stars. A fat lil' dude with a hat he stole from Commander McBragg -or possibly backstage from the dressing room from Lionel Richie or another band member at an early Commodores concert, and a razor thin tall toothpick whose teeth comprised 67% of her body weight. Baby Boomers, you have a TON of explaining to do...

They were ok in the 70's pop scene, but rockers they were not!

Always made me wish that this Captain had gone down with the ship.

Was there something about the 70s that encouraged this sort of thing?

They will cheerfully greet Hall of Shamers at the door of Rock n Roll Pergatory.(Sorry, but Hell is reserved by Death Metal bands).
