Gee, I wonder why the United States had advance plans for the invasion of Iraq. I mean, the Gulf War had only been finished for over a decade and Saddam Hussein had been in violation of his country's terms of surrender and UN proclamations on approximately two dozen occasions. During the nineties, we had been put in situations whereupon tens of millions of dollars had been spent shuttling U.S. military forces (on multiple occasions) into the Gulf only to have Iraq capitulate to weapons inspections at the last moment, and you mean to tell me that the Bush Administration had plans in place for militarily entering Iraq? Filthy war mongers! Cheney and the rest are a bunch of imperialists with blood on their hands! Djahuti, you ought to be embarrassed.

It was planned in advance, months before 9/11. The WTC disaster provided a smokescreen and an excuse albeit a flimsy one,as we now know.It was not, however, planned "well"- we were told that our troops would be "welcomed as heros with flowers and flags"and be "out in a few months",and evidently that's what they were prepared for.Rummy didn't want to alarm us apparently with the cost of preparing our troops for the battle they ended up having on their hands. This war was "sold" to the American People as if it were a product. My heart goes out to both the Troops and their families,as well as the innocent Iraqi civilians who died in droves.Bush will go down in history as the "Calamity Jane" of Presidents.

When the dust settles, we need a thorough review a la Pearl Harbor (although I'll have to admit they swept lots under the rug in that review.)
