I was 13 in 1977 when it came out, and I remember standing in line for a long time. I really thought it was worth it then, but waiting in long lines like that voluntarily are overwith for me.

Crap. At least I can only remember seeing Return of the Jedi when it came out.

I went to see this way back in the 70s when this came out. back when there were still huge theaters to see them in. I remember liking the movie more than I thought i would. I am not a huge science fiction fan. but enjoyed this one. i did not go on to watch the next bunch of STar wars movies over the years. maybe the second one but that is it.was neat for the times with the special effects.

I remember standing in long lines for what seemed like hours waiting to see Star Wars. This was when there were not nearly as many theaters as there are now. Don't have the patience to stand in line that long anymore.

Although I enjoyed it,I thought it was over-rated even THEN.

Here we go, at least something that doesn't make me feel THAT old! I born a few years before the original Star Wars came out.

Yeah, the generational divide was pretty clear when the new movies started to come out - the parents being very excited with it and the kids shrugging their shoulders and asking, "can we see Mummy II next?" I watched the first Star Wars recently, and you don't think of it as a "70s movie" unless you haven't watched it in a long time. But boy if it isn't a 70s movie. Luke's hair in that first movie alone is a pretty good indication!

It was one of the greatest good experiences in my life. I was hooked from the first movie (A New Hope) until today (Revenge of The Sith)
