I get called sir every now and then, but I think its from people who just generally use that formality and not because I look old. Hell...I'm still a twenty something, so I am probably the one saying Mam and Sir to make others feel old.

The conversation went like this, "Ma'am, can I see your photo I.D to buy cigarettes.... "

In addition to this one, you know you're not a kid anymore when you stop getting carded.

Its a little reminder that the years are passing but if we can get young people to actually use those words these days would be a bigger shock. My first reaction to someone calling me Ma'am would be "Wow,a kid thats been taught to have manners". Its just seen so rarely anymore.

Or how about people say to you "My dad does/says the exact same thing."

Yep, that's been happening for a while now for me.

I'm still under 20 though. What about when people start calling you, "Miss"? :)

It's funny that I get called Ma'am all the time even though I'm 19.
