PDA no longer refers to 'personal display of affection' but 'personal digital assistant' 3

Given how much I'm struggling with the technology of the Blackberry Curve I got talked into when my cell contract was up and I qualified for a new phone, I'm beginning to think PDA stands for Poor Dumb Asshole.

I thought "PDA" stood for "Personal Display of Adequacy-by-Running-Out-to-Future-Shop-Every-Time-a-New-Gadget-Comes-on-the-Market-to-Compensate-for-a-Weak-Self-Image".

I agree with Kamy here. There's nothing wrong with showing affection by kissing your girlfriend or holding her hand in public. As long you're not making love in public, there's nothing wrong with "PDA".

LOL, I thought "PDA" stood for "Public Display of Affection" . . . I think "PERSONAL Display of Affection" sounds kinda like a little bit of, ahem, "self-love" . . . either one works, though, in context.

Anyway, I don't care much for the "older" meaning (either interpretation); it seems like it was mostly used by uppity yet childish types who seemed like they never had their significant other go so far as to even hold hands with them in public, the same kinda people who'd say something utterly ridiculous like "wordy dird" (instead of "dirty word") and still use words like "wee wee". There are people who like to hold hands. There are people who like to kiss. As long as they're not making out or procreating in front of you, get over it.

I greatly prefer the newer version of "PDA" (as in "computerized organizer"). At least, now when I hear someone use the term, I don't have to cringe so much.
