REALLY!!! I dont see it...no way! The John Denver I know could never be angry, frustrated and crude as well as athletic and a ladies man. The movie never would have had the success it did if this had gone on. This is one of my favorite movies. The Town of "Olongapo City", the P.I. (the Philippine Islands)where "Zachs" father chased whores was all too familiar to me. I was actually there no less than 9 times in my 2 years on a Carrier out of Yokosuka, Japan while in the Navy (1978-1980). A greast story that had more truth to it than most hollywood depictions. There was "debs" as depicted in the movie(short for debutantes)or poor girls looking for the stability of a military life in every naval base I was on. They did not just pursue officers, they did the same for enlisted men too! I left one crying and sobbing myself and often remember her, and so did a couple of my best friends, (most re-upped but I had different dreams calling)Numbah...you might have something to say about this!

Denver said the script read like "a 1950s movie." Right.. we all know about John Denver's great acting choices.
