Not a bad idea, but from reading some of the other items on this list, I'd hate to imagine the penalty for failing the course.

Isn't it already? I thought everyone had to take at least 3 years of history in high school? Maybe it's changed. They should make C,S,N& Y'S " Ohio" the theme song of the state, but then the Bow Tie Daddys on Rate It All would go apeshit.

There are several classes that anyone who thinks they deserve a high school diploma should take, and I would say that world history is one of them.
