A bone of contention with me! My fiance is a PO and I have worked for awhile w/ the State PD and I will have to say, no driver can piss me off more (sorry for the language), than one who doesn't pull over for emergency vehicles. PS Donovan ~ in Michigan, the left lane is reserved for emergency vehicles and passing other drivers (although no one adheres to it), and we have passed a law that, if it is safe to do so, you must move over a lane to accomadate police officres on the side of the road (not that anyone adheres to THAT either).

I have bad driving habits- but on my worst day I would never do this. If I were a para-military dictator I would have public crucifixions for this offense.

I drive an emergency vehicle for a living. Sometimes people are just in their own little world. They will pull out in front of you, slam on the breaks (causing you to almost rearend them) when they hear your siren instead of pulling over to the right or just completely ignore you.

In many states vehicles are supposed to merge left for emergency vehicles stopped on the side of the road. This is for the safety of the responders; many do not or will not and come close to hitting us.

I have to agree with AutzenMaven on this!!! Many do pull over, but I have seen a few that are just plain stupid. Who knows their stupidity could have cost somebody their life or the difference between walking of not!!!! Wake up people, they are doing their job; just get your butt out of the way!!!!!!!!!

I live near hospitals so it is very common to always have emergence vehicles to come flying down the road. it can be a pain always having to pull over to let them through, but I always do. it only takes a few seconds so let them on through.

rated a 5, based on how bad the habit is: You don't know how many times I see this in a day. I've never seen such disrespect for other drivers in my life, but areas of Florida are notorious for this behavior. I see them do this and all I can think is: "What if they're going to help YOUR family? Would you move THEN?" It's just awful!
