Happens all the time. In fact in the field of Hip Hop music there are people fabricating long lists of violent offences just to get noticed by record companies.

He was legal, I swear!

Honestly, I've never had legal troubles. The closest I've been to the law is when I hurt my back and had to be out of work for a year. I had to get a union appointed lawyer to represent me against my employer who wouldn't let me back to work despite a lifetime of dedication.
