A fine performance by William Powell and Carol Lombard. Good supporting cast. The screw-ball aspect is the only over-done part of the film. Better than average story that has a pretty good surprise ending. Make sure you get a restored version of this one , there are a lot of lousy, cheap copies out there.

a 3.5 has it's good moments. the original one was filmed in the 1930s so it is a typical screwball comedy. a rich family. gets involved in a game where they have to find a homeless person or "bum" and befriend them. this woman finds a guy in a dump assuming he is homeless and brings him home to be their butler Godfrey takes the job and has time to observe this rich wacky family. what the family does not know is Godfrey is every bit a rich as they are. he had grown tired of his millionaire life and ended up in this junkyard when the gal finds him. the audience and family eventually find this out. Godfrey is a wise man who has learned a bit about life, both from the rich person's and what it may be like to be poor. can be good in parts.
