This was the first record I bought. The cover means so much to me thanks to the music. I have been interested in the teachings of Yogananda for the past 10 years. Only recently I found out that he too is on this incredible cover. It gave me the shivers I could have known about him a lot earlier. The Beatles already gave me so much. Thank you George Harrison for putting him on this.
I have this record on my livingroomwall. Too me the cover is a door to another world, and I only need to look at it to feel at one with the universe.

Rich in detail and an extension of their art. The Beatles strived to be more than just a band by paying attention to all of the details of their career including packaging, probably influenced by Andy Warhol. This album cover probably represents the zenith of their ambitions, presenting a collage of people that they personally deemed influential, some of them icons, some of them obscure inside jokes. In the Beatles Anthology there is a considerable discussion of the execution of the album cover, at first they didn't even consider obtaining permission to use peoples' likenesses. A few declined and were removed from the shoot, one person even changed their mind and had to be obscured by a palm tree that was airbrushed in on the right side of the shot.

Really, more than any other album, almost singlehandedly began the whole concept of appreciating the art of the album cover. Previous efforts TENDED to have more or less run of the mill photos of the band on them, and most had little to no symbolism, multiple interpretations, or deeper meanings behind them. I wouldn't say it's my favorite but I like it.

It was good, but a bit busy. Aside from the White Album, my favorite cover was for Abbey Road.
