 | oscargamblesfro (82) 03/06/2006 | Some album covers, such as this one and Santana's debut, were taken from concert posters from famous venues such as The Fillmore West and The Avalon in San Francisco. This one was designed by Rick Griffin, one of the many talented poster artists of the day in the Bay Area. Good use of color on this one, which I regard as one of the band's better album covers.

 | Djahuti (57) 03/05/2006 | The Dead had so many artistic friends to choose from and many of their album covers are cool enough to be framed and hung on the wall.This one is no exception.It has some mystic Egyptian symbols,the winged solar disc with uraes (cobras) and Kephra (the dung beatle,which represents the self-begotten and the midnight sun).I especially like the incense burners set on either side yet separated from the main motif.Unfortunately,the record itself is a lot less inspiring than the cover art.
