03/06/2006 | This is an obscure but awesome tune that was covered by, among others, The Charlatans and Quicksilver Messenger Service. A realistic look at the effects of using codeine, and the dangers of doing so. She was a good songwriter, though a rather aggravating singer, one of those people whose covers are better than her own renditions, a lot of hard hitting tunes about the injustices done to Native Americans as well as other social problems. Was even on Sesame St. for a while when I was young.
