A great children's song. Peter Paul and Mary insist that it has absolutely nothing to do with drugs, nothwithstanding the word "puff" and Jackie "Papers" playing with the dragon. I believe them as the rest of the song really doesn't have any correllation with drugs. There are summer camps however, who won't allow the song to be sung because of the rumors.
It's really not Peter, Paul and Mary's style to glorify drugs. They are actually Christian and fairly religious in a socially conservative way despite their liberal politics.
