I'm with the previous reviewers, I don't think the song is explicitly about drugs. It could just as easily be about an out of body experience from meditation or, as I thought when it came out, about someone who had died and their soul was leaving their body. David Byrne was never what you would call a linear or direct lyricist. Great song.

I agree with Drummond. I never associated the song with drugs. I always thought it might be about astral projection. Regardless, it's one of the Talking Head's best.

Love the song, but I guess I never listened that closely to the lyrics. Didn't know it was about drugs.
