03/07/2006 | Again, I just think it's lazy to view this as a drug song. It's about tuning in, turning on, and dropping out - the drive for what they perceived as freedom in terms of consciousness and lifestyle. Just because a song is listened to by so many people on acid, it does not follow that the artists intended to describe drug trips. There were many levels of consciousness that were at issue during the "dawning of the age of aquarius."
