good movie.well acted. interesting movie about Mozart his genius as an musician.his interesting personality. jealousy with much less talented musicians and a theory about how Mozart may have died. way better than I thought it would be. my second choice for that year would have been Places in the Heart. Amadeus was a good win.

It took me 3 viewings to realize how good a film Amadeus was. The first time I saw it I thought the film was fatally flawed because I deemed the lead character to be completely unbelievable as an artistic genius. I saw it again a short while later and was equally unimpressed with the movie. Several years passed, I got (obviously) older and had a broader range of reference for personality types when I viewed Amadeus a 3rd time. It was almost like watching a different film. In my opinion, it's one of the 50 best movies ever made. Well directed, beautifully performed and, as I realize now, the star of Amadeus (whose name currently eludes me) couldn't have been better.

This was a good choice, though it took serious liberties with history.
