 | alpepper (21) 03/10/2006 | Probably one of the last war movies of an era where the warrior of film is Hero and not anti-hero, as in Apocalypse Now, Deer Hunter, Platoon, or Full Metal Jacket. [Perhaps Kelly's Heroes had a tinge of Vietnam War anti-war sentiment in the guise of a WWII movie]. George C. Scott's portrayal of the complex general was brilliant.

 | oscargamblesfro (76) 03/10/2006 | Worth it just for Scott's performance alone. He's always been a respected actor- yet STILL somehow an underrated one- God, He's great in everything! I agree with irishgit- Five Easy Pieces was ok, and Airport was melodramatic, but at least watchable and somewhat influential- in a bad way. Love Story ... truly godawful, puke causing tripe- if you're not an elitist snob!

 | irishgit (138) 03/10/2006 | Up against pretty weak competition, only M.A.S.H. is really in the same class among the nominees.
Seriously now, does anyone think Love Story, Five Easy Pieces or Airport is a better film.
