Again, much as with Titanic, if the Academy had denied this overlong flick the award, nobody would ever have risked that much money again. That being said, this film fully deserved the award, and against some stiff competition. It underlined the meaning of the term, extravaganza.

Oh yes, movie making at it's wonderful best. Charlton Heston shined!!! Very worthy of the Oscar.
