	alpepper (21) 03/09/2006	The Nooner I recall was while I was in the Navy, on board a ship. A nooner is another name for siesta or reposo. A typical Nooner would be taken after lunch (about 11:45 AM) and would typically last until 12:30. Typically, you felt groggier than before you took the nooner. When we would go out to sea, I would take super-nooners. As an officer standing bridge watches, I had some weird hours and was lucky to get 3 hours of sleep max at night. Hence the super-nooner. To do a super-nooner, you had to skip lunch, so you could hit your rack (bunk) at 11:00 AM. If all went well, you could get 2 whole hours of sleep (though I still felt like crap as I staggered out of my bunk to deal with angry sailors). But more often than not, the super-nooner would go awry as the ships speaker would be cackling, the phone would ring, someone would knock on the door, or (gulp) the Skipper would barge in yelling at why I wasn't at his meeting.
