Forgot one of the more obvious. Cars do release carbon dioxide, the most significant greenhouse gas aside from water vapor. But they also release poisons. Certain technologies have mitigated these emissions, but you can still committ suicide by running your car in a closed garage.
The question isn't whether it impacts the ecosystems. The question is merely how much.
