I purchased a New Harley-Davidson last year and took the Harley Insurance which was Safeco and I have never heard of nor dealt with them before. I was about to renew my policy but they were going to raise my rates and when I called to ask why they said I had a traffic violation but I told her that I had hired an attorney and the ticket was dismissed.

The lady informed me that is was not dismissed and that it was in fact on my record so I told her I would not be renewing my insurance with them.

I called our insurance we have the vehicles on and they ran and said I have a perfect record and that my insurance with them would be 96.00 a year and last year with Safeco it was 176.00, and this year they were wanting 207.00 this is liability only.

It seems I could have saved over 80.00 last years as well, this Safeco is bad news as far as insurance goes.

I had a claim with my shop. It was burglarized. safco instead of sending an adjuster they sent an investigator. then they tried to send me to prison for insurance fraud instead of paying the claim of $20,000.00 I won of corse and they sent me my check but it was only for $2800. and said I had the right to sew them for the rest.
My attorny told me that is the game they play to save the company money. it is just what they do.

I have had Safeco insurance for two years now and had hurricane Ike damage my roof severely and the adjuster was reluctant to do anything about it but thank god my roofer was there to meet up with this idiot that had hardly an idea of what wind damage looks like. I also found water damage in the wall and the idiot adjuster said that that could have been there way before the roof damage. We ripped the wall down and showed the adjuster that it is coming from the roof as plain as day and he then said that he would get back with me. Two weeks later I called the GM and complained and said that I would go back with Amica Insurance no matter what they do.....MY FATHER INLAW HAD HAIL DAMAGE AND AMICA SENT HIM 17k AND THE ROOF WAS 7k.....

They get you in with low rates and GOD HELP US WHEN WE NEED TO MAKE A CLAIM!

I am currently attempting to deal with SAFECO concerning the roof of my home. Definitely a "Buyer Beware" kind of company!! I have been with them over 8 years. This is the first claim I have filed ... wind damage on the roof. That's when I discovered, although all other deductibles are $500, the "wind/hail" roof damage deductible is 1% = $2,200 deductible.. THEN they deducted the depreciation even though it is supposedly a "roof replacement fee" insurance. What is wrong with this picture?? I am here today to find a new insurance company.

I've been with this company many years. I had my daughter and me on the policy, but when I got married 4 years ago I added my husband. We all have great driving records. No tickets until a year ago when my husband got a fix-it ticket for past due registration on his truck. Safeco really dinged us for that. We were charged as if we were serious at risk drivers. Stupid me I continued to pay their high premium before realizing that I was being charged more then half of what my co-workers paid in insurance. I'd been a loyal customer to that company and they treated me like that. I'll never do business with them again, God willing. I hate to know what they would do if I ever had to make a claim. I would give this company a negative star rating.

Safeco is the worst small business and personal insurance company in the industry. They appear to be easy and inexpensive, but pray that you don't have a claim. Good luck in trying to get a fair settlement. I've had this unpleasant expereince as well as some others I've talked to.

Great customer service. Decent rates. Allows me to have all my policy's under one insurance company and gives many discounts.
