Learning about proper grammar, parts of speech, etc. aren't really that difficult, even if I don't always use them correctly. But what makes English the most difficult subject is the papers that have to be written. It's one thing when you have to write a paper in another subject. But in English, you are writing papers just to write papers, so writers block really sets in quickly and often. This also makes English one of the most time consuming subjects as well.

 | trebon1038 (65) 03/15/2006 | I did pretty well in most english classes, including the 400 course I took as a Freshman in college. I just did better at reading and writing I guess than math and science.

 | Vudija (98) 03/15/2006 | I didn't mind how challenging it was until my senior year of high school. I always found English to be fairly easy, at times, even slightly boring. I love to write anything from: poetry, to short stories, to essays, and have even tried my hand at writing a novel. But come my senior year, things were starting to go south far to quickly in my life. I lost a friend to suicide, a friend left without word and I thought her abusive grandparents had finally gone over the deep-end (I was worried, constantly calling the cops to find out if they could find her for me), several other friends had moved over the summer which left me alone most of the time and so on. Add in the stresses of standardized tests that are required to graduate, classes that were far harder but required etc, and you've got a girl who can't stay focused for longer than 10 minutes, is highly emotional and having these mental-breaks during lectures, and is now prone to panic attacks. I almost failed my senior year because of the grade I made in this class at the end of the year.
