The only ones to fear in this realm is ones who make off-the-wall comments that have nothing to do with the Bible and their own thoughts weaved into it. A lot of time Christians get a black eye because of the weirdos, and someone comes along and labels all Christians "religious fanatics". Kind of funny how sometimes Christians are fanatics for making a stand about what they believe in, but people are considered normal who are so celebrity nuts that it's all they can talk about, and constantly live in a fantasy world. Now that's scary.

I think everyone should mind his/hers own business in this particular case. HOw I choose worship my God, whether it's God, Allah, Budda, Vishnu, or Odin, is no ones business but mine. The bottom line is - there's a one God, we just chose to worship him deffirently.

It is from the confrontation of the extremes that we fing the middle ground. Hopefully we get their without bloodshed.

I'm not so scared of religious fanatics really. The only ones that catch my eye are those muslim extremists, sorry, but they don't represent all muslims and they give the majority a bad name. What scares me are the politicians that allow some of these extremists to stay in the UK. Take for example our friend Tony Blair and Abu Hamza. Now Abu Hamza has been on the scene for years and was outside the American Embassy in London of all places, Wood Green and other parts of London preaching to young impressionable boys to join his vision of a radical Islam - which is insane as most of you know Islam means peace. How Hamza got away with spouting such bile on National TV was beyond me as if he was doing this on US TV he would have either gone to jail or been deported immediately. Its only now that Abu Hamza's finally in jail where he should have been years ago.

Religious fanatics don't scare me. They can be annoying, but they don't scare me. I just smile and nod...smile and nod.

You know, the anti-religions fanatics scare me more. I think back to the French Revolution, then to Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot, etc.

Extremes in anything can lead to disaster. Extremes in religion only serves to drive people away from it. Jesus taught us that we are all God's children, therefore, we are all brothers and sisters and should love each other as such. I truely believe that will be the reality someday, probably at least a thousand years from now, but someday. What a beautiful, wonderful day that will be.

Religion or belief systems - what have you - are not the problem. Having the freedom to choose what you believe or don't believe is one of the reasons my country was founded in the first place and I would defend anyone's right to subscribe to whatever suits his/her fancy. Fanatics, on the other hand, regardless of motivation, are another thing entirely. And, I'm talking about the people who speed past the pale of energetic enthusiasm and run straight into dangerous/lethal acts against other people; abortion clinic bombers, wacko cult leaders demanding mass suicides, and airborne terrorists. These people are bullies and the only way to handle a bully is to stand up to them. Yes, they scare me, but not to the point of running away.

Usually more irritating than scary. . .although the inability to deal in scientific discourse does arouse fear in me. . .

I am not afraid of religious fanatics. I have no problem with those who go to church and is guided by the bible. my only problem is if their beliefs are forced on me and i have to live by their standards if I do not want to. I believe in God. i read the bible every now and then. I resent it if I get told that I am going to hell if I do not follow the kind of life they think I should.

IJR do I scare you?? :) I'm sure some here on RIA consider me a "Religious Fanatic", but I'm not. To have a strong belief in God and a desire to serve him is more of a relationship than what people call religion. I do not have a lot to do with "Religion" so much. There is a difference. People have passion on RIA for a lot of different things and they stand out. My passion is my faith and my family; if that makes me a fanatic then so be it.
