Similar to The Matrix, the Wachowski brothers created a smart, action thriller. It seems most contemporary action movies involve plenty of comedy and generic romantic storylines to fill time between the action scenes. V for Vendetta provided a look at what Western society might look like if a regime similar to the Taliban controlled a modern capitalistic country. I enjoyed the message about questioning what the media broadcasts, and about how you're only free if you learn to live without fear. Natalie Portman did a great job in her role, and despite not seeing his face, Hugo Weaving was excellent. I was not originally interested in this movie when it came out in theaters, but after hearing all of the positive reviews for the film I decided it needed to be watched. I was definitely not let down by V for Vendetta
