We have seen it over the years...after WW2 the Japanese/Americans were shunned...now, regardless the Arab decent has trouble. When I lived in South France I too got a taste of it. I lived between two villages...one loved me for being American and most businesses in the other hated me. One place wouldn't let me purchase anything in their store. My French wasn't great but I tried. Some patrons in the store even translated to the sales person for me and they still wouldn't help me.

This one kinda goes with racism in many cases. My parents came over from China (well, my mom from Hong Kong), and they get a lot of crap from those who are ignorant of Chinese culture. Some people believe the stereotypes, and for that my parents' property gets vandalized. Some people harass or even get violent with people who immigrated to America, not thinking that MAYBE they came to America because they didn't like how things were over in their homeland and wanted to seek a better life for themselves and their families. Some people don't stop to think that, once upon a time, maybe their ancestors who came over to America got crap based on their nation of origin. No matter where you came from or where your parents came from we're all over here now, and we're all American.

Where I work if you haven't been ordinarily resident in the UK for more than three years despite your country being part of the EU you have to pay double for anything you want. Some of these people take it personally when their application is denied, but if you ask me why should they when there are people who have been working in this country all their lives and have never had anything for free? Even some people who origniated from the West Indies during the Windrush in the 1950's who came to England they never had free handouts they had to go to work and pay their way or face the prospect of leading non-existent lives.
