No way they could be ranked any lower than a contender every season, but take a look at their starting pitching. The depth is not there, and there are legit question marks with their middle relief. I don't think they will win the AL pennant this season.

I hate to tell you, duke, but their pitching is not all that great. However, their offense will be more than enough to carry them to yet another division title.

The Yankees do not have great pitching. It's time for other teams in the division to rise to the occasion. Torre gets fired and good old Larry Bowa steps in.

Have the usual serious shot at the playoffs, but I see a team without enough heart or soul. Look past Jeter, and there doesn't seem to be enough "want to" on this squad.

George will buy another playoff team, but I don't think the Yanks will win another World Series while Alex Rodriguez is still there. He is a curse. The Yankees pitching isn't anywhere close to where it used to be, and although George will be willing to trade for it, he doesn't have the talent in the minor leagues to make too many trades come July.

I don't think there's any team out there right now that you can truly say merits a 5. Great hitting from 1 to 6 or 7 in the lineup, but a fairly weak bench and beyond the top few starters there are question marks, and age is creeping up on them. Should win the division, and possibly could win the whole thing, but it's not a given, though they are to be feared as usual.
