The Yankees and BoSox have reaon for concern simply because the Blue Jays won't be going away. Pitching is exceptional and will keep them in the running to the end of the season. Note to Blue Jays management: dump your unis. They are the ugliest in the league. Switch back to the blus you were wearing you won back-to-back titles.

I think they're slightly overhyped. Burnett struggled in September last year and B.J. Ryan is a closer i would rate 3.5 out of 5 on. They have a sound offense now with the addition of Glaus, and the pitching is enough to make them a reasonable contender for the wild card spot.

This is the Jays year to return to contention. They will win the AL East!

The Jays made some great moves in the offseason, but I'm not quite sold on their ability to make the playoffs with their difficult AL East schedule. I've always like Lyle Overbay, but the Jays are already loaded at the DH/1B/3B position with Troy Glaus, Shea Hillenbrand, and Eric Hinske. They probably would have been better off addressing what I feel is a lack of talent at SS and 2B. BJ Ryan should provide some bullpen stability, and Bengie Molina is a great defensive catcher. I think they will be an improved team, and might surpass the Red Sox for 2nd in the AL East. However, I don't think they will have enough to win the division or take the Wild Card spot.

I'm guessing that next year is the year that they might really shine. While their moves in the offseason were good ones, I think the moves were a tad hyped/ overrated by many. Good front end of the rotation, but it remains to be seen how effective Ryan will be as the closer. Burnett kind of reminds me more of a Ben McDonald type than a potential 20 game winner, he has potential, but needs a big year to maintain that lofty impression... and, aside from Vernon Wells and Glaus, their lineup is not that scary. Halladay needs to be healthy and Lilly needs to win more than his typical 11 or so games. Will be more competitive, but will probably , at best, come in no higher than 2nd in the East this season.
