I think they are getting better, but it still will be a while before even a division banner is hung. They have a lot of young stars like Aubrey Huff and Julio Lugo, but Huff will be out for the rest of April now with a knee injury. I was impressed with Mark Hendrickson's first start. The question is can he keep it up. I think trading Dewon Brazelton was the right move, especially since he's struggling over in San Diego.

This is the year that the Devil Rays have a good year. 83-84 wins is possible!

The Devil Rays have a lot of talented young outfielders, more than they have room to play. I can see them trading one or two of those guys to bring in some quality pitching at some point. Jorge Cantu is also a great player, and after watching him play for Mexico in the WBC, it looks like he is ready to have a big year. The bottom line though is that the D-Rays don't have good pitching, and they will need it if they ever want to compete in the AL East.

Tampa Bay has a good, talented, and young outfield, and some other good players like Jorge Cantu and the underrated shortstop Julio Lugo. There's some good talent in the minors too. The problem here is pitching more than hitting, running, or defense. Scott Kazmir, who they stole from The Mets, has a chance to be a special pitcher, but the rest of their rotation is pretty dreadful. IF they are smart, they could be a force in a few years, and it's good to see them finally dump their clueless owner and GM if you're a fan of them. They should be improved, but I'd be very surprised if they won more than 75-78 games, though that would be easily the best they've done in their brief history.
