Have made some marginal improvements. When I was just a kid in the late 70's and through the 80's, this was a dangerous, balanced club with a lot of talent, but over the past 12 years or so have generally been pretty bad to dreadful. Have some minor leaguers worth following closely, and should be somewhat better this year, but have about as good of a chance of being the 2006 World Champions as Ernest Borgnine does of being named "Pimp of the Year."

The Royals showed some signs of life this offseason, signing veterans Scott Elarton, Mark Grudzielanek, and Doug Mientkiewicz, while also locking up talented outfield David De Jesus for five years. However, they have further to go than any other Major League team, and although these moves are positives, I don't see them getting this club out of the bottom of the standings.
