Although I can't remember exactly where I read it, I was under the impression that this show was based on a true story.

This was a fun show to watch, kind of outlandish but definately a classic. I watch the re-runs on the TV Land channel anyway (not quite tailored to the audience of my generation) but I do certainly have an appreciation for the show. I like the relationship dynamic between the two main characters, the writers seemed to always know how to keep things interesting, to say the least.

I liked this show. I always thought, Jeannie had a more luxurious home inside that bottle than most people do anywhere else, and, I like the outfit she wore. That style of pants actually came into trendy about ten years ago and faded out quickly. Looked comfortable anyway.

Back when everyone was asking "Who shot J.R. ?",I suspected Jeannie! After all,Major Nelson was stupid beyond belief! Had I found myself in his situation,I'd have quit NASA,moved into a life of bliss in Jeannies bottle, and seen the WORLD...

Came out when the practice of networks in copying the success of other networks was at it's apex (Big Valley a copy of Bonanza, Munsters a copy of Adam's Family, etc.). This one however resulted in a copy with it's own character, and Barbara Eden probably introduced the concept of the virtuous dumb blonde to primetime television. Funny thing is, for all the semi-provocative costumes she was allowed to wear, she was never allowed to display her naval.
