03/24/2006 | His rant on the Iraqi Republican Guard is one of the funniest I have ever read. Prior to 9/11/01, he was not a libertarian. He was a democrat and a staunch Clinton defender. (When he said, "it's nice to have a president that GETS IT! " I don't think he was referring to Clinton's monogamy)Today he appears to believe all the same things he did back then, but sees the need for America to act like a superpower, in much the same mold as Niall Ferguson.
I know, I know, a guy ought to be able to espouse patriotism and military strength AND still be a democrat. When did it become the kiss of death for a democrat to simply show support for a war?

03/23/2006 | What's sad isn't really the political journey, but more that he seems so bitter now. Almost angry that the whole rest of the planet hasn't followed his logic. His interviews with liberals are borderline nasty, and he has decided he will not make any jokes about president Bush because "he likes him." That makes him out to be more doctrinaire than comedian.
He doesn't seem to be enjoying himself anymore. Depression maybe?
