03/24/2006 | Agee was a CIA agent up until his resignation in 1969. He wrote Inside the CIA, a Diary, which chronicled his experiences and thoughts about propping up military dictatorships to cold war ends, and apparently led to the exposure of some operatives. He actually became a socialist, then a borderline communist, and while on the run from US, though I'm not sure if he was actually wanted for criminal charges or if he was merely trying to find a medium for further publication. He now resides in Cuba where is is published.
I'd say he started off in the right direction along the lines of Ellsberg, but somewhere along the line he lost his focus. He runs a website that is dedicated to helping American tourists find loopholes through the embargo to travel to Cuba to partake in what are reportedly the best cigars and rum in the world.
