I dislike them, but the beards probably helped with the allure of their early years. I don't think they'd be the same without them.

They need to NEVER shave those beards. Those are just too important for them.

The beards actually conceal the fact that the members of the band left years ago. They just prop the hats on top of the beards and wheel them out on stage and play ZZ Top's Greatest Hits over the PA. The fans still eat it up.
