03/25/2006 |  For some men this can be important, for me it's not. One of my friends from law school married a tall blonde who is one of the most charming and socially adroit people I have seen operating in upper middle class social settings. She's perfect for him as he has had a career with large LA law firms and is now an executive with one of the major television networks.
For a person like me (marginally socially adjusted, commonly doing professional things "outside of the box", and usually working by myself or with 1 or 2 other lawyers) this is a non-concern. I hate cocktail parties, most professional social functions, and don't usually go out of my way to make connections or new friends (often times to my detriment). My wife (a foreign national) gets uncomfortable in settings with lots of Americans and prefers the companionship of her fellow artists or her Japanese expatriate (sp?) buddies. Which is fine with me. The first few times I took her with with me to social functions with my friends, who are the nicest most accommodating folks around and were always pleasant and welcoming to my wife, she related afterwards that she felt uncomfortable. I told her it was not a problem and now 9 times out of 10 when I get invited to something of that nature I go by myself. She's perfect for me because she doesn't expect me to go along with her and her pals on their Tokyo-bunch-night-out weekend drinking/dancing binges either.

03/25/2006 | I'm shy in everyday life, but I'm very easy to get along with. I've never had a problem mixing in with all different kinds of people. It depends on how you carry yourself and how you treat others.

03/25/2006 | It's nice to have a partner who is comfortable in all kinds of company-but again,I've had loves who were shy or on the anti-social side,and I can accept that.

03/24/2006 | Every man wants to Proud of his mate. Seeing her shine no matter what the settings or the crowd your in usually does that with a man that notices. If you dont notice this kind of quality in a woman you probably dont deserve her. My wife is this way I am glad to say. In fact she is much nicer to most people than she is to me LOL!! Thats love huh!
