One of the best approches into Seattle is going west on I-90 through Mercer Island where the freeway is landscaped with greenery, evergreen trees, lids, and parks. After going through tunnels you cross Lake Washington on the floating bridges at the same level as the water with Mt. Rainier in view, then going through more tunnels and the Seattle skyline unfolds. The floating bridges on 1-90 are constructed of connected floating barges anchored by cables. There is also another floating bridge to the north at 1.5 miles long on the 520 freeway connecting Seattle and Bellevue. Both are very scenic to cross.
